Soft Systems Engineering Tools in Requirements Elicitation – International Journal of Systems Applications, Engineering & Development, Issue 3, Volume 4, 2010.

Human beings are the main actors in any system created in the Information and Communication Technology. From system conception to its discard, humans are present. Humans are the system designers, system developers, system users and humans are affected by the system, positively or negatively. Although human is the main actor, several systems engineering methods do not include humans’ aspects during the system development. Given the cost involved in system changes after understand its requirements, one must include the human dimension in system requirements elicitation phase. This requirements engineering process is a system inside the system to be treated, it is a system where the components are humans activities. This paper deals with the use of soft system approach in the elicitation process and discusses a perspective of method selection, as a way to identify human requirements for reduce the discrepancy between the expected features of a system and the ones perceived.

Dealing with the Human Side In: Software Engineering - Methods, Modeling and Teaching.1 ed.Medellin - Colombia : Universidad de Medellin, Medellin, Colombia, 2011, p. 69-82.

This chapter introduces an approach for reduce the discrepancy between the expected Software System features and the ones that will be perceived by the System stakeholders. The human presence, from conception to discard of a Software System, makes the development of these Sociotechnical Systems a complex process. Although humans are the main actors of a Sociotechnical System life cycle, several Requirement Engineering methods do not include the human dimension in the System requirements, treating only the Human Factors. Given the cost involved in System changes after the Requirement Engineering process, it is necessary to include the elicitation of the human dimension in this process, which is a System inside the Software System to be developed, a System where the components are human activities

A method based on computational intelligence for automatic black box test cases generation In: 2010 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ICAI`10), 2010, Las Vegas. -   Proceedings of ICAI`10. , 2010.

A method is presented based on computationalintelligence, learning set of rules and fuzzy logic to proposethe development of tools that generate and classify test casesfor black box tests in order to assist in the activity of testpreparation and to achieve a qualitatively superior coverageon the manual creation process. The test technique entityrepresents a unitary functional test technique, which can bepicked from a selection box., using sequential coveringalgorithms, and a fuzzy inference engine to classify the testcases generated. The test classification outcome results willhelp the test engineer on his decisions.

The virtual learning environment - AVA as a tool auxiliary system of education presencial mediated by technological resources in the State of Amazonas In: International Conference on Education and New Learning Technologies, 2010, Barcelona.   EduLearn 10 Proceedings. , 2010.

This article presents the result of implementation of a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) as a auxiliary tool to assist educational learning process in a course graduation from the University of the State of Amazonas (UEA), which uses technology education named System of Education Presential Mediate by Technological Resources (SPMTR). This technology uses, for transmission of lessons, a complete studio-based television technological platform, broadband Internet, satellite (data, video and voice), iterative digital TV over IP (video conference) and other resources in real time to all rooms geographically distant from the headquarters of the university, in the state of Amazonas, where the course is being offered, enabling the preparation of instructional resources in multiple languages: films, documentaries, illustrations and animations, researched or specially produced for the lessons of the course. In this scenario, have been deployed and used the capabilities offered by VLE whose main contributions have been evaluated for the consolidation and evolution of new teaching ways.

Internet of the Future Non-Engineering Challenges In: The 3rd International Multi-Conference on Engineering and Technological Innovation, 2010, Orlando, FL.

The 3rd International Multi-Conference on Engineering and Technological Innovation Proceedings. Winter Garden, FL: IIIS International Institute of Infoormatics ans Systemcs, 2010. v.1. p.146 - 151

The Internet of the Future is a fascinating theme from the point of view of both engineering and education as well. Terms like pervasive, ubiquitous have become known for a growing number of digital netzens due to the presence of the Internet in our daily lives. Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) have become the buzzwords in the network engineering community. However, we dare to say that the engineering challenges faced by the Internet of the Future are easy. They are easy by the single reason that we know what is at stake. So, in this paper we address the challenges of the Internet of the Future from the perspective of the Systems Engineering analyzing it as a social-technical complex and from the perspective of the Iconomics considering the beings, things and icons vertices.

Amazonas State`s Participation in Global Software Development Projects In: International Conference on Information Society (i-Society 2010), 2010, Londres.

Proceedings of i-Society 2010. , 2010.

Economics and technology have strongly restructured software development setting. In the last years the movement toward globally distributed software development has gathered a fast pace, which can be verified through the geographic distribution of such projects among several organizations, both big and small. This paper presents a proposal of including Amazonas State -  Brazil, so far known only for housing the greatest piece of the world’s greatest rain forest, as a participant agent in global software development projects, offering an alternative source of sustainability to Amazonas State’s economical development.

e-Health application is a highly complex socio-technical system that depends on human interaction in all steps of the implementation from conception to disposal. Considering a system engineering process based on human factors in e-Health systems implementation is taking into account the nature of the project and the different scenarios where it is applied. This paper proposes the study of systems engineering process applied on e-Health implementation searching for the integration model between technical and human factors (HF) aspects. Furthermore, the day-to-day operation of these services has been focused only on maintaining a set of network-related metrics at adequate levels. The end user, on the other hand, understands Quality of Service as a matter of Customer Care and Support. This difference in understanding leads to the need of a change in both the methodology used by SP's to create new services and the techniques used to manage these services once deployed. The new service development methodology, the focus of this paper, must be able to assess users' needs and translate them into meaningful parameters to be captured by newly developed services. Quality Function Deployment fits this bill perfectly. The new operation techniques must bring the Service Provider closer to the more abstract requirements of the customer (including emotional and affective requirements and perceptions). Are the current Service Level Management techniques adequate to this reality?
